Homework
We want every student to be successful, and we feel that homework plays a vital role in this process. Our students need to develop a variety of skills including time management, organisation, resilience and motivation – all of which can be developed through independent study or the completion of homework.
Online Homework
The use of online platforms is an excellent resource to support students’ learning and keep a record of the progress made. Essentially, students have more ownership of their learning as online platforms pitch the level of difficulty to the specific ability and needs of the individual child. With the benefit of immediate feedback, students can see exactly how and why they are improving, as well as receiving personalised feedback on skills and topics they might need further support.

Year 7
To establish routines and build stamina effectively, Year 7 students will only be set homework for English, maths and science for at least the first term of the school year. This will be reviewed at the beginning of the Spring Term and homework for other subjects introduced to support and consolidate the learning in the classroom in due course.
Google Classroom
Homework tasks will be set and recorded on Google Classroom. Teachers will set the deadlines and students can then organise their studies to suit themselves. All homework tasks have a minimum of a week’s deadline and submission. Parents and guardians are sent an email to ‘invite’ them to join Google Classroom, and an email summary will be sent with information of upcoming work and deadlines for assignments and tasks.
Homework Club
To support the completion of homework and independent study, students can access computers in the SSU and the Library after school on Monday-Thursday between 3.10pm and 4.00pm in order to complete homework and access Google Classroom and online platforms.
Homework is compulsory and students are sanctioned accordingly for incompletion of homework tasks.
