We want every student to be successful and feel that homework plays a vital role in the process. Our students need to develop a variety of skills including time management, organisation, resilience and motivation, all of which can be developed through independent study or homework. Homework may be set in order to ensure that students repeat, complete and embed learning or apply it in a new context. It may involve research and fresh learning that complements or extends the curriculum covered in the classroom.
The setting of homework will vary from subject to subject and within subjects throughout the year. Tasks & deadlines will be recorded by teachers on Epraise (Student Login, Parent Login). Homework tasks in Key Stage 3 should typically take no longer than 30mins and may be longer in Key Stage 4.
A homework club runs every lunchtime in A5 and the library is open to students after school. If students have any issues completing homework on time, parents should write a note to the teacher using the student’s planner.
In addition to homework set by teachers we recommend every student reads regularly (daily) and all students can complete additional Hegarty maths challenges at any time.
