House Events - Autumn
Thursday, September 26, 2024
Last week our staff house leaders delivered the first House Assemblies of the year, we welcomed our new Year 7 house members and also two new staff House Leaders. Mr Swan takes on Leadership of Ballard House and Ms Rowley, Elgar. As part of this assembly we launched our Autumn Term House Calendar. We are committed to living out our vision of ‘Life in all its fullness’ John 10 10 in everything we do and so our House Competitions provide great opportunities for our school community to learn new skills and also demonstrate our values of Belief, Trust, Challenge and resilience. These are the challenges taking place in the Autumn term.
Our first House Challenge of designing a House Shield is already in action, entries are due on 7th October and full details of this competition can be found on year group Google Classroom pages. We hope to receive many creative designs in the hope that we can select a winning design from each house and make these up. You most definitely have to be in it to win it, so we encourage all year groups to take part and win valuable points!
May the best house win!
Community Work: Cross generational Dementia Tea Dance
This week we had the opportunity to take a small group of dancers up to the Dementia meeting Centre on Somers Park Road to take part in a tea dance. This was working in collaboration with Rachel Freeman from Everybody Dance. This fantastic community intiaitive, was an opportunity for our dancers to learn more about dementia and then go up to the tea party to interact with those suffering with dementia and their families. Everybody Dance believe in the value of cross generational dance collaborations and after success in other schools, gave us this opportunity to get involved in this community outreach project. Our students did us proud and showcased our school values in abundance, as well as actively living out our vision of ‘Life in all its fullness’. The students and party atendees had a great time and we hope to expand our collaboration with them in the future.

A visit from Rev Duncan, Worcestershire Diocese.
As a Church school we often meet with Rev Duncan Hutchinson, The Diocese Education Advisor, who supports us in ensuring we fulfil our obligations as a Church School. The foundations of our school and everything we do are grounded on the theological teaching of John 10 10 ‘Life in all its fullness’. This verse from the Bible, drives us to want to provide extraordinary experiences and support for our school community so that they can experience this. This vision is the heart of our school, and a golden thread in all areas of school life. Rev Duncan spent time with myself and Vanessa, our Chaplain discussing our plan for this academic year to help continue to develop our Chaplaincy work as well as meeting with the Teaching Staff, to provide training on our vision and the new SIAMS inspection framework. We look forward to welcoming Rev Duncan back in December, where he will be speaking to the staff team about spirituality as well as conducting student voice about how we carry out our vision.
