We have had a fantastic class review from Year 7 LSK who have been reading "The Graveyard Book".
The Graveyard Book
Class Review By 7LSK
This story is a book of intrigue, twist and turns. It starts with a boy whose family are mysteriously murdered. The boy is then offered refuge in the most unlikely of places - a graveyard. As you can imagine his upbringing is far from ordinary!
The graveyard folk keep the boy safe and teach him extraordinary skills. All of this will prove useful as the boy unravels they mystery surrounding his family’s murder and why he is being hunted by a “man called Jack”.
We loved this book because the emotions in it were relatable. It was full of highs and lows and you felt you were on this journey with the boy 'Bod'. We became immersed in the book and some of us even read to the end over Christmas.
We enjoyed the cliff-hangers and discovering what happened next. We also learned a lot along the way, unravelling the nature of key characters and the history of the past graveyard folk. It taught us what the ‘Danse Macabre’ was and we could link this with our learning in History studying ‘The Black Death’
We hope you enjoyed the book as much as we did!
